Air Travel contributes 4% of global CO2 emissions and is projected to contribute 25% by 2050. Less than 1% of the population generates over 50% of these emissions. To address these negative, inequitable, and unsustainable impacts from aviation, ClearSkies was formed.
ClearSkies' mission is to improve lives by decarbonizing aviation. We do this through renewable energy infrastructure at airports.
ClearSkies develops scalable renewable energy microgrids; solar PV, energy storage, chargers, and offsets. The new microgrid supplies the airport & tenants with green electricity at a lower operating cost. ClearSkies installs chargers to accommodate the increasing demand of passenger EVs, electric ground support equipment, and electric aircraft. By installing an independent power station at the airport, it creates an opportunity to generate and sell excess renewable power to the municipality, surrounding businesses, and community.
Immediate positive economic impact for the airports with increased revenue and reduced operating expenses. Integration of energy storage systems and charging infrastructure can be leveraged for airport resiliency and service flexibility. Positive environmental impact with reduced green house gas emissions and reduced noise. Positive social impact with diversity of our energy supply, resiliency for our national infrastructure, and bringing a variety of employment opportunities.
Dr. Creelman holds a BA in Chemistry, an MS in Public Health Specializing in Air Quality, and a Doctorate in Environmental Science and Engineering. She has applied her interdisciplinary education towards solving technical problems for large clients (Disney, Chevron, Camp Pendleton), and especially airports in the areas of IT and environmental planning, design, construction, and operations. She founded Creelman Inc., a California Corporation, in 2001 and has successfully completed scores of development projects at large hub airports such as LAX, DFW, CLT, ATL, and JFK as a certified Woman Owned Business Enterprise (WBE) subcontractor to major architectural and engineering firms. Dr. Creelman Chairs the Electrification Working Group for American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE) Facilities and Technology Services Committee. She guest lectures on Infrastructure for Sustainable Aviation, the Stanford University Center for Integrated Facilities Engineering. Dr. Creelman is a graduate of the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses Program.
Mr. Hilgers brings over 30 years of experience in a variety of industries, including 13 years in aviation, with a demonstrated history of programs, relationships, negotiation, sales, and management. Due to the growing complexities of renewable energy and the need to keep it simple, John brings his expertise to the aviation industry. Every airport brings its own unique challenges: geographic location, service, budget constraints, personnel, and maturity. In each of these, energy programs are similar and best practices can be shared. John leverages the most suitable, fluid, and consistent practices to affect the desired results for all his clients. His attention to detail allows the business to lower risks, create efficiencies, reduce costs, and improves customer service.
